Copyright Do’s and Dont’s

Paying for art is good business

Flying Cloud offers affordable art. We’re here to help people build business. We’re in business too. We want to sell art so we can keep making more art to help more people.

If you think stealing art off this site — or anywhere around the internet — and using it without permission is OK, think again. This is trouble. It may be copyright infringement and can carry hefty fines.

I charge no less than $500 for each copyright infringement plus legal fees. That means, if you use a Flying Cloud Design logo without permission, without licensing, and it appears on each page of your website, you could be fined $500 for each page it appears on. Still want to use art illegally?

It’s easy to find art online.

Just go to:
https://images.google.com/
and upload any image

Searching for images is easy. Using art you found on the internet can be illegal, especially if you use it to conduct business. Think law suit.

Here’s how easy it is to find a Flying Cloud Logo anywhere across the internet.

Here’s a popular Flying Cloud Logo

A well used Flying Cloud logo.

Here’s a google image search page

All that is needed is a simple upload of the art to the Google search engine. Image recognition (not file name or meta data) is advanced. I can honestly say that this particular “GMO FREE” logo has not been sold this many times. In the search page pictured above, there appears to be a long list of cyber thieves. To add to this, there are several pages.

Be careful you’re not infringing on copyrights.

Should I care that some mom and pop are using my logo to sell handmade soap? Somewhat. Flying Cloud logos help people get their business going, that’s the whole point of what we do. Our logos are inexpensive on purpose. Anyone can afford them, that’s our goal.

I suggest if you’re using my logos illegally — go to PayPal and buy the license.

Hungry Lawyers

Legal issues should be of concern to anyone using art without permission. Permission means, you must ask the artist for use, buy the art outright, or license the art to use it. Permission must be granted by the artist. See terms. You need to license to use the art before you get slapped with fines and sticky lawyer messes. I request $500 per use for each image used illegally.

Lawyers are graduated each year from law schools by the hundreds. As in many industries, it is hard to get a decent job even with a degree. There are student loans to pay off and enormous living expenses.

Any lawyer out there who wants to partner with me to find illegal use of Flying Cloud images send me a note. This is an industry waiting to be explored.

What to do if your are already using a Flying Cloud copyrighted logo?

If you have used a logo without permission and want to make amends, you can license it by submitting a payment to Flying Cloud Design. Please note which logo your licensing when submitting your payment.
