They say the economy is good. But not for everyone. We are programmed to by everything from big box stores or off the web from enormous retailers. Though this is fast and easy for the short term, the long term effects can be devastating for the local economy.

Gone are the small convenient stores that were just a walk to town. Now we have everything delivered, our clothes, home goods and of course who wants to cook anything. We we can have a pizza delivered to our door.

I don’t know about you, but when I fixing my toilet, I would rather go to the local hardware store just a mile down the road to get a common plumbing part. These repairs often take multiple trips (unfortunately). But I’m sure glad I don’t have to drive 30 minutes just to get a screw. Nuts!

But these local entities are disappearing. We should think about where are money goes, who it goes to, and who it’s helping in the long run.
