Book cover design ideas for designing great book covers
Today’s web-based bookstores need a great looking, inspiring, and “click-able” thumbnail to peak curiosity and gain potential sales. I’ve been designing graphics for websites for 20 years. Conveying information on a small format, such as a thumbnail link, is an art. These tiny little thumbnails need to be recognizable as well as legible. Understanding basic layout techniques will help the designer create great looking book covers that will grab attention on today’s eCommerce sites as well as on bookshelves.
I roughed out basic layout concepts. The concepts may be used as reference. They are designed to work well as and overall layout design. The titles and author names are completely made-up. I hit upon current themes, interests and general book categories. The concepts names are meant to be fun and easy to remember.
There is much to learn about graphic design which is only touched upon throughout this book.
